Whoo Hoo!

We are pregnant! We did in-vitro again in September and this time it worked! We are pregnant with twins!
I think it helped to know that we were on the waiting list for adoption so if in-vitro didn't work we could still be parents by way of adoption. We could still have hope.
But it did work and I am so happy! I am so grateful and feel so blessed that I am going to be a mother of twins! Being a mother is something that I have always dreamed of being and now it is going to happen!
So we are going to have A Baby for Us...in fact we are going to have 2 Babies for Us! We are so excited!

I think I might stop posting on this blog, since it was mainly our adoption journey blog. Thanks for reading it!

Just Checking In

No news yet!
We have had a fun summer just being together. Joel works from home two days a week now, so it's been nice to have him around earlier than the other 3 days of the week.
We have enjoyed this summer going on dates, seeing movies, going to baseball games, working on our house and yard, and hanging out with family and friends.
We don't know when the day will come when we will be blessed with having a baby come into our lives, but we are loving the time we are able to spend together as a family of two!

Facebook Group

(Ok I decided to put it here too!)
We have set up a Facebook group called: Katie and Joel are Adopting! I know that some of you are friends with me already on Facebook so you probably already know about it
For those who don't, or those who joined who don't know the reason behind starting the group, I will tell you about it. It is basically a networking group. You may have a friend, or your friend may know someone, who is pregnant that is thinking about placing their child for adoption. By starting this group you can show the birth mother(s) out there that we could potentially be the parents for their child. So by joining and having your other friends on Facebook join we could potentially find the little one that is supposed to come to our family faster! :-)
I love the response that we have gotten from this group so far. Hopefully it will lead to us becoming parents!

Waiting...It's Not So Bad

I am actually excited about this waiting that we are doing. I love that we could get a call anytime. But I also know that since we could get a call anytime, we should try to do things that we might not be able to do once a baby comes into our lives. So we are trying to do just that. We are planning trips and vacations, also we are trying to do more activities that we really haven't done before. We aren't just sitting around waiting for the phone to ring. I will be excited when the call comes (obviously!) but right now I am just enjoying being married to my wonderful husband!

We Are Offical!

We have been accepted as an adoptive family! That means that our profile is now on itsaboutlove.org where birth mothers can see us. We are so excited! Now the wait. We know that it might be a while but at least it is now only waiting for the birth mother to select us, not paperwork to be done! Whoo hoo!

Inspection and Interviews

We had our case worker, Wayne, from LDS Family Services come and inspect our house and give us individual interviews on Friday. He was very impressed about how fast we got to this point. People usually take 3-6 months with phases 1-3 and we did them in about 6 weeks.
He came over and immediately was impressed about how well we keep up our home and how well we got things "baby-proofed". He really liked the fence around our pool, that was a great load off our mind.
After the inspection we had personal interviews. They were a piece of cake compared to all the time it took working and waiting to see if our house was up to what they wanted. The personal interview was mainly to see how we individually felt about adopting and if we had issues in our past that would give them any reason to not have a child placed with us. When we finished the interviews, Wayne said that we passed the home inspection and interviews!
Now all that is left is to wait on the FBI to finish the background check on us. When that is done Wayne and an adoption committee will get together and look at our paperwork and then discuss if we are good adoptive parent material. He said that all of that should take about two weeks to a month, depending on when the FBI background check is finished. When all that is done we should be on the itsaboutlove.org website! Also we will be in the books that the birthmothers can look through in Sacramento's LDS Family Services office. Yay!!!
Now the waiting begins...

The Next Step

We have finished phase 3 of 5 and are now waiting to have a home inspection and personal interviews. Those are scheduled for Friday the 30th!
We have been baby proofing the house since our case worker told us the things we needed to do, since September. We have plugs on outlets, a door knob cover for the garage door and a fence around the pool, to name a few things. All we still need to do before the inspection is put baby proof locks in some drawers and a few cabinets.
After we are approved our profile will be put on itsaboutlove.org. Then the birth mothers can see us there and decide if we are the ones for their child.
I can't believe how quickly this all has come together since we finally decided to pursue adoption. I can't wait til we are able to hold our child in our arms and start the next chapter of our lives together!
